1. Reduce the cost of raw materials


Titanium has a high melting point and a very active chemical property. It has a strong chemical affinity with O,H,N and C elements, which makes it difficult to extract pure titanium.Kroll magnesium reduction method is widely used in industry to produce titanium sponge.The production of titanium sponge by Kroll magnesium reduction process is complicated, high energy consumption, long cycle time, and cannot be produced continuously,besides, a large amount of magnesium is needed as a reducing agent, so the production cost is higher.At present, the process of direct electrochemical reduction of TiO2 in molten CaCl2 developed by the university of Cambridge has made a breakthrough,the production cycle of titanium sponge produced by this method is short, and the production cost is reduced by 40%.


2. Reduce the processing cost


Casting is a classic net (near) molding process that produces parts with little or no machining, thus saving a lot of metal.Casting can often produce parts with complex shapes,however, when these parts are manufactured by other traditional methods, the process is complicated and the production cost is high, especially for titanium metal with relatively high material price.


It is easy to produce vibration and lead to vibration when cutting; And, it is also easy to react with cutting tool material when cutting, thereby aggravating the crescent depression wear. In addition, its thermal conductivity is poor, since the heat is mainly concentrated in the cutting area,therefore, the cutting tools for processing titanium alloy parts must have high thermal hardness.
